Colonial Silver on Display

Theodore Parker Church’s fine collection of colonial silver is now on display at Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts.  Among the collection are a silver tankard donated in 1732 by Sarah Townsend Thayer, wife of the church’s first minister, Ebenezer Thayer, and a baptismal basin given in 1774 by John Mory, grandson of one of the church’s original members. The entire collection is on display in Gallery LG36 in the Art of the Americas wing, along with other early New England silver. While all the church silver is stored at the museum, this is the first time the pieces have been on public display since 1911.
