How Can You Help with the Plant Sale?

The annual TPC Plant Sale is happening on Saturday, May 27. What can you do to help before, during, and after the sale?

  1. No high-level skill set needed — just be able to smile and have fun. Join with a TPC friend to get your gardens in shape! Play in the dirt together.
  2. Dig up, split, and pot your extra perennials or houseplants for the sale. Pots for transplanting will be available in the breezeway by early May. If you have extra pots, please drop them off.
  3. Please label your plants. PLANTS MUST BE POTTED WITH DIRT or people won’t buy them. NO BAGGED PLANTS! Let Karen Bishop know if you need an hour’s help from a volunteer.
  4. Volunteer an hour to dig plants for those not able to do so. We usually have a couple of requests.
  5. Ask your neighbors for their splittings/plants as a donation to our sale.
  6. Bring your decorative containers and unwanted garden art to the breezeway. It’s a great way to clean out the garage and basement. Karen will organize these to sell on the big day.
  7. Begin baking items that can be frozen and then put out the day of the sale (hint: our morning sale is not the best time for chocolate or brownies or anything else that will melt).
  8. Deliver your plants to the church breezeway by Thursday, May 25, at the latest. Plants delivered after that they may not make it into the sale.
  9. Help Karen price the plants on Friday, May 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  10. Volunteer to help on the day of the sale. People are needed early (8 a.m.) to move tables and plants to the front lawn; all day to answer visitors’ questions, make and sell baked goods and drinks, and take payments. After the sale, we need folks to move the tables and unsold plants back to the breezeway.

Questions or to volunteer, e-mail Karen Bishop (kbishop814@earthlink.net).
