| Part-Time Director of Religious
Education at Theodore Parker Church, West Roxbury MA
The Theodore Parker Church (TPC) of West Roxbury, MA, is
a lively, creative Unitarian Universalist congregation of
approximately 90 adults and 40 children seeking a part-time
Director of Religious Education (DRE) to lead our Sunday School
program for children and to assist with the development of
our youth programs. The dedicated volunteers on our Religious
Education Committee and teaching teams will work with the
DRE to create a nurturing learning environment for moral and
spiritual development grounded in Unitarian Universalist principles
(www.tparkerchurch.org/about/aboutUU.htm).
We are seeking a candidate who enjoys working with children
and teens and who brings energy and humor. We seek someone
with initiative and good organizational skills who will empower
the gifts of others. A candidate with training in liberal
religious education and experience leading a Unitarian Universalist
Religious Education program in a setting similar to Theodore
Parker Church is preferred, but someone with the necessary
skills and with professional experience working with children
in a non-religious settings will be considered. Competence
with standard computer prorgams is important.
This is a part-time position, approximately 12-15 hours per
week, September through June, with flexible hours in the summer.
Must work Sundays 9 AM to 1 PM (excepting July & August).
Weekday hours are flexible with occasional evening meetings.
The DRE will work collaboratively with the Religious Education
Committee and be supervised and supported by the Minister.
Compensation is dependent upon experience and commensurate
with the standards of the Unitarian Universalist Association.
The salary is paid monthly July through June. No benefits
are provided. The Director of Religious Education will receive
6 Sundays off during the September to June church year.
