Theodore Parker Church is a self-governing congregation.

The  Board, formerly called the Standing Committee, is the central governing body, responsible for directing the affairs of the church. The Executive Committee (comprised of the chair, vice chair, treasurer, and clerk plus the minister) meets in between regular board meetings to plan its agenda and to take care of minor administrative matters. The board is elected annually by the membership.

The Music and Worship Committee coordinates music and congregational participation in the worship services, hires guest speakers, and plans lay-led services.

The Religious Exploration Committee organizes and runs the church school program and organizes adult discussion groups and presentations on topics of general interest.

The Social Action Committee offers opportunities to learn about and take action on critical issues such as racial, social, and economic justice. The committee also supports annual fundraisers for Renewal House (a shelter for victims of domestic violence), Project Bread’s Walk for Hunger, the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute Mother’s Day Walk for Peace, and the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee “Guest at Your Table” initiative.

The Racial Justice Task Force is charged with developing and leading a process to engage the entire TPC community in action leading to racial justice.

The Welcoming Ministry welcomes visitors and new members and helps keep members connected with church life.

The Caring Ministry facilitates support for members of our church community who are facing challenges due to illness, loss, transition, and other concerns.

The Finance Committee monitors the financial health of the church and prepares the annual budget for the congregation. Theodore Parker Church is supported by the contributions of its members and friends, rentals of its buildings, proceeds of fund-raising events, and occasional grants.

The Stewardship Team is responsible for fundraising for the church’s operating budget, principally through the annual spring pledge drive. It also assists with fundraising campaigns for capital projects and seeks to raise awareness of the meaning of stewardship throughout the year.

The Property Management Committee cares for our buildings and grounds. It is responsible for maintenance, repair, and landscaping, and for overseeing the use of the premises by authorized groups.

The Communications Team maintains the website and Facebook pages and photo archive, edits the weekly electronic newsletter, moderates the TPC Talk chat group, records worship services and special speakers, and produces press releases and other publications as needed.

The Committee on Shared Ministry meets with the minister to discuss issues related to the ministerial transition confidentially. 

The Trustees are responsible for managing the endowment funds, disbursing funds from them in support of the church’s operating expenses, and honoring the investment guidelines as set forth by restricted donations.
