Church operations are conducted by volunteer committees. Involvement in committee activities is an important way of contributing to the life of our church and determining its current and future direction. Newcomers also find that joining
a committee is an excellent way to get to know people and make the personal connections that strengthen our community.

The Standing Committee is the central governing body, responsible for directing the affairs of the church. It meets monthly and as necessary for special situations.

  • The Music and Worship Committee coordinates music and congregational participation in the worship services.
  • The Religious Education Committee organizes and runs the church school program, and develops adult discussion groups and presentations on topics of general interest.
  • The Membership Committee welcomes visitors and new members, helps keep
members connected with church life, and coordinates coffee hours and bi-monthly pot-luck lunches.
  • The Ministerial Relations Committee facilitates dialogue between the congregation and its minister by discussing emerging concerns and exploring new suggestions.
  • The Finance Committee monitors the financial health of the church and prepares the Annual Budget for the congregation. The Theodore Parker Church is supported by the contributions of its members and friends, income from renting the parish house to various community groups, and proceeds of fund-raising events.
  • The Property Committee cares for our buildings and grounds. It is responsible for maintenance, repair and landscaping, for supervising the work of the administrator, and for overseeing the use of the premises by authorized groups.
  • The Building Restoration Committee plans and manages projects to repair and restore the community's historic edifice and stained glass, and writes grant proposals to support those projects.
  • The Canvass Committee organizes the annual spring canvass drive and dinner and trains canvassers to meet with church members and friends to elicit their comments about the previous year and their ideas about goals and programs
for the coming year. Financial pledges are encouraged during the canvass.
