DESCRIPTION:Your Social Action Committee will sponsor another in its series of Community Potlucks on Friday\, January 11\, at 6:30 p.m. in the parish hall parlor. The purpose of these potlucks is to help build community in our congregation around the “reaching out” aspect of our collective mission\, and to connect it to our efforts to “reach in.”  \nAccess to education is a critical issue for all youth and parents in the city. For those of us convinced of the “inherent worth of every person\,” public support for an effective and equitable education system should be a priority\, regardless of whether we have (or will have) children in the schools. \nOn January 11\, we’ll break bread and create a circle for a facilitated discussion of education as a racial and social justice issue. DESCRIPTION:Each year\, Theodore Parker Church hosts a major lecture featuring a prominent faith leader offering a faith perspective on a timely issue. Rev. Kathleen McTigue\, Director of the UU College of Social Justice of Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC)\, will deliver this year’s lecture entitled\, “Immigration Justice: Prophetic Witness in Dangerous Times.” Rev. McTigue will reflect on her program’s work with faith communities on immigration issues and\, in particular\, on her own accompaniment of detained migrants in multiple detention centers along the Mexico-U.S. border. Rev. DESCRIPTION:The meditation group meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month. The group is taking a break this winter and resumes on April 4. We read a short poem and then share silent meditation time together for about 25 minutes.  All are welcome to drop in.

DESCRIPTION:The Adult Religious Exploration Committee invites you to study the evolution of Unitarian Universalism through the 20th century in a five-session workshop to be held on April 2\, 9\, 16\, 23\, and 30\, in the parish hall parlor from 7 to 8:30 p.m.The workshop will be co-led by church members Jessica Mink and David Parke. Our text will be the new two-volume work\, A Documentary History of Unitarianism Universalism\, edited by by Dan McKanan of Harvard Divinity School (Boston: Skinner House Books\, 2017). At the first session\, we will review potential topics for discussion from the books.Click here for additional information concerning this interesting workshop.  We hope to see many of you at the first session!\nThe new books are $20 per volume. We will mostly be using the second\, but the first is useful\, too. You can order your own copies or pay Jessica Mink at coffee hour and she’ll pick them up at the UUA bookstore.
