SUMMARY:Jason Robinson's Janus Ensemble
DESCRIPTION:Saxophonist and flutist Jason Robinson is a performer\, composer\, and educator based in western Massachusetts\, where he teaches at Amherst College. Jason’s 2024 releases\, ‘Ancestral Numbers I’ and ‘Ancestral Numbers II\,’ are collections of musical musings on the question\, “What does ancestry sound like?” He’ll be joined in concert by the musicians who appeared on these recordings: California pianist Joshua White and NYC jazz fixtures Michael Dessen on trombone\, Drew Gress on bass\, and Ches Smith on drums. “Robinson navigates between introspective passages and bursts of free jazz exploration.
