DESCRIPTION:Join the UU Urban Ministry for the 3:30 p.m. matinee of Black Nativity\, Langston Hughes’ gospel play of joy\, hope\, and liberation at the Paramount Theater. Black Nativity retells the Christmas story through Gospel music\, blues\, and African-inspired dance. Tickets are still available at emersonparamount.com. \nBarry Gaither\, founder and director of the National Center of Afro-American Artists\, will join us for a reception in the lounge at the Paramount at 2:15 p.m. to share the history of Black Nativity in Boston and how the show is mounted every year entirely with local adults and children. SUMMARY:Winter Solstice Luminaria in Roslindale
DESCRIPTION:On Winter Solstice\, Thursday\, December 21\, stroll among 500 glowing lumieres in Adams Park\, Sophia’s Grotto\, and the Roslindale business district. Sing with us at 6:30 p.m. in Adams Park.  Song books will be available to share. Luminaria is an opportunity to bring together members of our community across cultures and faiths to share observation of the longest night and the new lengthening of days. Volunteers welcome and needed for preparing candles (12/13)\, singing rehearsal (12/15) and placing and lighting lumieres (12/21). Contact Karen Kirchoff to inquire.
