Remember, Reflect, and Recommit

In this year’s Martin Luther King service, we will remember the four pillars of the pledge TPC made two years ago to work to dismantle white supremacy. That decision, anchored in our UU principles, was taken after two years of education, discernment, and discussion, culminating in a vote to continue our commitment to learning and justice, and to hang a Black Lives Matter banner as a visible sign of our commitment.

Where are we now? Conversations with members and friends indicate that the commitment we made two years ago has permeated our community, often in private and surprising ways. Three members of the congregation — Molly Schen, Karen Kirchoff, and Carey Toran — will share reflections on their own journeys. We will close the service with a congregational recommitment to the pledge.
